One of David's cousins posted these on facebook and I wanted to capture them for the kids since this blog has become essentially Garrett's only "baby book" and my only form of maintaining a photo album collection for them. These are from David's mothers side of the family (Eber) from Rochelle, IL. David's Mom Marcia is 4th from the right (when looking at the picture); she is so pretty. I beleive the farmhouse is in Steward, IL (Grandma & Grandpa Larsen bought the house in 1942 They sold it in 1954). This is a narrative from Beste (Marcia Massie) - "The photo of the house is in Steward a town of about 150 people at the time. I have very fond memories , That is grandma and grandpa Larsen in front. Not sure who the short man is. The house has a very interesting history. It was a hotel at one time. The railroad station was just a half block away. Aside from that it is where were spent our early Christmas celebrations. My mom and her siblings graduated from high school there with a average class size of approximately 5. It is the house in which every Christmas eve Grandpa would disappear about the time Santa arrived and he missed Santa every year. I remember being very upset and complaining to Grandma. The rose bush in the front of the house was there for at least 50 years - it just never died. It was finally dug out by one of the recent owners. It was pink. Grandma and Grandpa both worked at NIU and eventally moved to DeKalb (home of NIU). The house had no heating upstairs just open registers/grates which meant that when we stayed late and we were sent to bed before we were to go home we could lay on the floor and look down through the registers and spy on the adults. Grandpa had his chair and spitoon in the bay window. I loved that house."
