Christian's At Home!!!!!
What a perfect early Christmas present!
The mystery of his issues - He has congential thyroid disease. Luckily they now test all new borns. And it helps to explain many of his delays and struggles. Thankfully a daily medication can supplement for him.
You can tell in the picture where Josh is holding him just how tiny he is.
Aley will have lots of feedings to keep his tiny tummy full!!!

Christian 8 Days Old
I had the great pleasure to spend the entire evening with Christian tonight. Connor was not feeling well and Aley and Josh wanted to be there for him so I volunteered to sit with Christian. Not that the nurses are not fabulous nor that I could do anything more, but simply that I would send frequent updates and that is helpful :-)
This was a fabulous day for him.
- No more IV
- No more feeding tube
- No more oxygen
- No more foreskin...... ouch!
He is a very slow eater and Nana is not a very good feeder! But the nurses are very successful in getting thru the necessary ounces every 3 hours. He is weighing in at 5 lbs 11 ounces. And he now has a great scream behind his cries :-)
Aley is nursing but she incompatable (as was with Connor) so she has to pump and then feed from bottle. This is very laborous, especially when he will be eating every 2-3 hours and it takes him 40 minutes to eat! In addition Christian has circumsision and umbilical cord cleaning at every diaper change. I will be putting together a schedule to see if we can get some folks out there to help her 10a-2p with various house/meal/baby tasks as soon as he is able to come home.
No one is talking about sending him home. He has kept a constant pattern of 1 good day, 1 bad day, 1 good, 1 bad.... so everyone is still very hesitant. But he is looking great!!!
