Surgery #5

A dreaded post.

Garrett has to have another surgery. Surgery #4 was to insert a "flap" in the back of his nasal passage to help him close his airway during speech. It was too large and all the air was flowing out his nose and making it impossible for him to make certian sounds.

The surgery (#4) took a little too well and now his nasal passage is 100% blocked and he cannot breath thru his nose. He has a pretty bad case of sleep apnea that is going to do nothing but continue to get worse.

They would like to wait 2 more months to give surgery #4 a solid 6 months to heal (since this will be his 4th surgery in this area). But we have to have a sleep test to ensure that there are no dangers of waiting 2 more months.

Surgery #5 is somehow (no plan until they get in there) going to try to open up the nasal passage just enough to let air flow and not too much to negatively impact his speech.

Poor guy. He is such a trooper.

The world according to Garrett "Its ok they made a mistake, I forgive them and they can have another chance to fix it." WOW....... can honestly say that is not what I was thinking.

I will keep you all updated as soon as he has the sleep study and we set a date.
