There are often signs of the orphanage life that I overlook at first. 2 years ago, Garrett showed signs of sensory processing issues. This was a really big step for him this day. He was so uncomfortable and so insecure about the strange feelings.
At first I was convinced it was only lack of exposure. After all this would have been a very messy and expensive activity for the orphanage teachers to pull off. A he probably was not allowed to play in his food as a baby or young toddler. So this is simple, just give Garrett the right exposure......
I wonder if it is that easy? I have to keep all of this in mind as Garrett grows up. What are the reprecutions of a child not being able to be anything but a child? We are all effected by our situations and influences as children.
Please continue to keep our family in your prayers. It has been a year full of turmoil and all the change will affect us all. Please pray that David and I are acutely aware and ensure that our children are just children.
The sensory issues have long gone for our little guy :-)
Gross as it is ......... he kept eating the pumpkin gutts. I was missing the sensory hesitation at those moments!!!!!!
