Sad Diagnosis

Squirts annual check-up brought some very sad news. She had terrible gingivitis and teeth issues.....but this is not common is 2 year old kitties unless there is something else wrong. She underwent surgery today to pull 5 teeth and give her a good dental cleaning and to run a series of tests.

Results - she has FIV (the equivalent of AIDs in a cat).
Her prognosis is not good since we have had her (1 year) from the shelter she has had a parasite in her intenstines, urinary infections, constant eye watering and now the gingivitis. All signs that her immune system is totally shot and she is highly prown to infections.

The vet has promised to help us keep the cost low and provide her antiobiotics and pain meds at our requests (without running tests) whenever we see necessary. He expects her to loose all her teeth within the year.

Poor sweet girl :-(
